A Complete PC Modem Pooling
Server
Solution for Terminal Server and Metaframe |
|
MPTS is a legacy Modem Pooling solution for Windows Terminal
Server and Citrix Metaframe. MPTS gives "thin-clients"
access to modem pools defined on the Terminal Server, saving
both time and money by eliminating the need to reconfigure the
communication application before each session.
Traditionally, when a "thin-client" uses a communication
application on the server to make an outbound call, the user
is faced with two challenges:
First, the user must know the physical location of an available
modem.
Second, the user must reconfigure the application to use
the right modem.
With MPTS, those worries are a thing of the past. MPTS allows
the communication application to use a "virtual" modem
(for TAPI aware apps) or a "virtual" COM port (for
other non TAPI applications). When the modem or COM port is
referenced, MPTS allocates the first available modem in the
administrators defined modem pool.
For example, several users can simultaneously use COM1 (the
"virtual" COM port) on the Terminal Server, and
MPTS will connect each users application to a different
available modem.
MPTS Can also be used in combination with our NetModem
or NetDialOut
software, to redirect users to remote modems hosted on another
server.
Supported Modem Hardware:
MPTS works with nearly all serial based modems (and other
COM port devices):
- Internal modem cards.
- External serial port modems.
- External USB modems that create a Windows COM port.
- Multi-port modem cards. (Multitech, Equinox, Perle, etc.)
