SERVER.EXE WILL LOAD INTO MEMORY UNDER WINDOWS 95 OR 98 DOS. WHY ISN'T DOS LANTASTIC SUPPORTED UNDER WINDOWS 95 OR 98?

Solution:
DOS LANtastic 7.0 and 8.0 are supported under DOS 5.0 - 6.22. As such, DOS LANtastic is designed for a FAT16 file system only. Windows 95 OSR2 (rev B) and above, and Windows 98, are most often installed with a FAT32 files system, which LANtastic server.exe does not support.
Though LANtastic server.exe will often load into memory in FAT32, any user attempting to login will receive an "invalid username or password" error. In addition, LANtastic Internal Share is not supported under Windows 95 or 98, and will only activate with a DOS FAT16 partition. In Windows 95 OSR2 and above, the SHARE.EXE command is not provided. Therefore, there is NO WAY to support DOS file & record locking.
Even if formatted with FAT16, Artisoft does not support installing the DOS version of LANtastic on a Windows 95/98 computer. As such, any installations would be peformed at the enduser's own risk.
