Subject:
UNINSTALL
LANTASTIC 8.0 WHEN ADD/REMOVE AND THE UNINSTALL
LANTASTIC 8.0 FAIL TO WORK
Solution:
There
are two possible ways to remove the LANtastic
8.0
1) In the LANTASTI\WIN95 directory is a program
called NETREMOV.EXE. This can be used to remove
the Windows 95 registry entries. To do so,
go to the Start button, and choose Run. In
the Open box, browse and find the NETREMOV.EXE
in the LANTASTI\WIN95 directory. Run it and
it should remove the necessary items.
2) If method 1 above fails, or if the NETREMOV.EXE
doesn't exist, then you can do the following.
FIRST - BACKUP THE REGISTRY! The changes that
follow are in the Windows 9.x Registry and
such changes could leave the computer in an
unbootable state if not done properly. If
such a problem occurs it is important that
a backup of the Registry exist, or else it
may be necessary to reinstall Windows 9.x
and all other programs again. Second, once
the registry has been backed up, go to the
Start button and choose Run, and put REGEDIT
in the Open box and click the OK button.
The Registry Editor will start, and you need
to click the + symbol next to the following
items: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services
In here, you will see a folder (key) named
LTNP32. Remove this folder.
You will also see a Lantastic folder (key).
Click on the + next to Lantastic and you should
see several folders (keys) beneath it. One
should be AFSD. Remove this folder as well
At this point, close the registry editor and
reboot the computer. You should now be able
to install LANtastic 8.0.
